Oak Island, NC

Our little vacation didn't exactly start out as planned. Mo and I both got food poisoning the afternoon/night before we left. So we were pretty miserable for the 5 hour drive bright and early on Friday morning. Needless to say, once we arrived we began to feel better after a well needed nap.

Isaac LOVED the ocean. We put him down in the sand and he took off toward the water. He would rake his little fingers through the sand and splash in the water. He wasn't missing a thing. He was just taking it all in. Mo and I say that our favorite part of parenting is watching Isaac experience everything for the first time. He is full of wide-eyed wonder! It's God's wonderful way of teaching us how to become like children again and to truly experience the little things in life we often take for granted.

So we splashed, played in the water, got knocked over by waves, looked up in awe at the lighthouse on the island and squealed with delight as Isaac took a couple of steps for the first time! It's good to be a kid again, at least vicariously!
